This role will be based in one of our three offices:  

  • Urbandale, IA
  • Luverne, MN
  • Lincoln, NE

We offer a hybrid work schedule with 4 days in the office; and 1 day remote where it makes sense to do so.

Responsibilities

As a Senior Commercial Casualty Claims Adjuster, you will investigate moderate to highly complex commercial casualty claims in a prompt, equitable manner by analyzing coverage, liability/compensability and damages; evaluating reserves; and negotiating settlement or conclusion of claim.  You'll also have the opportunity to expand your knowledge by managing select litigated claims.  

 

You'll be an integral member of a small but high-performing team handling claims for a very diverse book of business that empowers you to be strategic when resolving claims and in turn enables you to provide excellent customer service by keeping stakeholders informed and managing their expectations.  We believe in providing our claims professionals the autonomy to direct how the claim unfolds as well as the accessibility to decisive decision-makers so you're able to move quickly when delivering resolution.

We'll count on you to:

  • Examine and analyze policies, contracts and claim forms to determine coverage
  • Investigate loss in a prompt manner to determine the extent of the Company’s liability
  • Establish accurate claim reserves and re-evaluates exposures and reserves during the life of the claim
  • Ensure accurate claim data and file documentation into claim and related systems for reporting purposes
  • Negotiate settlement or conclusion of claim
  • Work closely with Home Office Claims and Claim Leadership team
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management

Qualifications

What you need to have:

  • 3+ years related casualty claims experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Possess strong customer orientation; problem analysis and problem resolution skills; and interpersonal and communication skills
  • Regularly and consistently demonstrates commitment to company values and guiding principles
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Valid driver’s license for travel

What makes you stand out:

  • Bachelor’s Degree 

  • 3+ years commercial casualty claims experience
  • Completion of or working toward AIC, CPCU, SCLA or similar designation

  • Ability to organize, prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment; and quickly and professionally respond to inquiries from customers
