Responsibilities

The Professional Lines Claims Examiner will manage a portfolio of claims within his/her authority, ensuring accurate and timely handling. This role involves determining coverage, establishing reserves, booking payments, and maintaining detailed claim files. The examiner will also provide analysis on trends and anomalies, collaborate with various departments, and develop relationships with reinsurance brokers and cedants.  Key functions include but are not limited to:

  • Managing a portfolio of claims efficiently and effectively.
  • Determining coverage and ensuring the accuracy of cedant claim cessions.
  • Establishing reserves and booking payments accurately.
  • Maintaining claim files in a timely and precise manner.
  • Submitting claims management reports for large exposure claims as required.
  • Conducting claim reviews as needed.
  • Providing analysis on trends and anomalies to Professional Lines underwriters and management.
  • Communicating with Underwriting, Actuarial, and Management teams.
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with reinsurance brokers and cedants.
  • Collaborating on innovation initiatives.      

This role will be based in our Stamford, CT office and the Metro North train station is right across from our office building - less than a minute walk! 

 

 

 

 

Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree in Business, Economics, Political Science, or Pre-law preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in Commercial Property & Casualty claims handling.
  • Experience in reinsurance and/or professional lines claims handling is a significant advantage.
  • Strong appetite for continuous learning.
  • Familiarity with policy and contract language.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask and work independently with strong attention to detail.
  • Willingness to travel domestically as required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
